Snow status for Sierra 4/8/07

I went to Sierra today, and it's looking a little barren. The back side of the mountain is closed. The Westbowl is slushy and brown with patches of dirt as is the east side of the mountain (Preacher's Passion and Castle, etc.). Castle was terrible and parts of it were closed because it was all dirt. If you're going up, stick to the middle part of the mountain. Upper main is still very functional (though the park needs a little attention and snow shoveling). I'm looking at other places to finish out the season at this point. Sierra is pretty much out of snow.

wow, it's hard to believe i didn't hit up sierra once this season. many seasons, it's a staple of my snow diet. in fact, i didn't make any south tahoe trips! like, i don't count kirkwood as south tahoe. i figure it's south of tahoe. i went to kirkwood plenty. in general, i like north tahoe better.

I am a much bigger fan of Northern Tahoe too, though Kirkwood is good for day trips from the bay area
