goggles: spherical or non-spherical?

my current and previous pair of goggles have been spherical goggles. i never gave it much thought. is there a reason some people prefer spherical, while others prefer non-spherical. at first, i thought all the higher-end goggles were spherical; but then i realized that that's not true. there are some relatively pricey goggles that aren't spherical. so what's the deal?

I use spherical goggles for the most part. They just fit best on the helmet and my head.
