View Full Version : sf ski fest 2009: santa clara venue added!
did you guys check out sfskifest.com (http://www.sfskifest.com/)?
november 7~8: san francisco, fort mason center
november 14~15: santa clara convention center
woohoo! the santa clara convention center is right down the street from my place. this is going to be cool! i've got to say the sf ski fest is the best snow show event around these days because it's like a grass roots, community effort and brings everyone together. i like it!

If weather cooperates, we could be skiing too =)
so far i only volunteered for one of those weekends - the silicon valley weekend. maybe i can use the sf weekend to hit the slopes instead. we'll see. i mean, i know the sf event will be at least just as fun as the silicon valley one, so... if there isn't snow, then i would rather be there than anywhere else... but yeah, we'll see.

I have my eye on a nice air fare on 21st November (which coincides with Squaw's opening) and a motel in Tahoe City. Or, apparently, I can book a 2 bedroom condo near Stagecoach where Hairfarmr crashed for $95 a night. What are the odds of a respectable dump at that time of year. Trust me, if you saw the man-made stuff we ski on (and there's been neglible natural stuff so far), I'm happy with little more than wet rocks to ski on.

Vet , some times there is enuf to turn on that early but don't count on it , all we can do now is pray (if that's your thang) or offer burnt offerings ( more my kinda thang ) child sacrafices... whatever you think will help the sesaon arrive wicked early DO IT !!

Oooh. I just realised Beno's a snowboarder and he's having a baby.
And if it doesn't snow, well there's one less snowboarder to worry about:p
i'm putting the boy on a board asap, so that's one more to worry about!

It is certainly easier to park at Santa Clara than San Jose, that is for sure. Less good bars nearby though.
one of the microbreweries that showed up last year is close to the santa clara convention center: faultline. i go there with coworkers sometime. i never found their service to be all that great, but their beer's okay.

Not all that close to the convention center, but not bad either. I also agree with you that the service at the Faultine isn't that great. The food can be good, but it is also pricey, and very loud.
can you believe that ski dazzle is on the same weekend as the silicon valley weekend of the sf ski fest?! well, i have two views on this:
it's going to be a fun weekend full of snowsports events in the silicon valley.
the snowbomb sf ski fest is going to be waaay better than ski dazzle because the snowbomb event is like a totally grassroots, community event; while ski dazzle is this awful, evil, soul.less corporate event.
i plan to volunteer at the silicon valley event at least one day. i dunno, if i don't work there two days, should i try to hit up the ski dazzle one of those days? or... i could still volunteer in the morning at the snowbomb fest and then go check out ski dazzle in the afternoon. otherwise, i could go to ski dazzle on friday evening and then be at the snowbomb fest two days. otherwise, if there's snow, i could hit the slopes one day and go to the snowbomb fest the other day... several options, but yeah...
i totally think that the snowbomb event will be better than the ski dazzle event.
i was really surprised to see that ski dazzle is on the same weekend as the snowbomb sf ski fest.
